
P-Bruins Fall To Monarchs 7-3

Manchester, NH - The Providence Bruins fell to the Manchester Monarchs 7-3 Friday evening at the Verizon Wireless Arena. The P-Bruins got their goals from Zach Hamill, Joe Colborne and Kirk MacDonald. Providence is back in action at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, January 7 at 7:05 p.m. for Kid's Hat Night against the Manchester Monarchs.
The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 20 second mark of the opening period. Jordan Smotherman held the puck halfway up the boards and sent it to Nathan McIver at the blue line. He put a shot on net and Hamill was there to tip in the rebound for his second goal of the season. Manchester tied the game at one at the 14:22 mark. David Kolomatis tallied his third goal of the season, while Colten Teubert and John Zeiler recorded the assists. Providence retook the lead at the 18:26 mark. Jeremy Reich had the puck behind the net and passed it to David Ling in the right faceoff circle. He found Colborne in the slot, who scored his eighth goal of the season. Providence led 2-1 going into the first intermission.
Manchester tied the game at two at the 2:31 mark of the second period. Andrei Loktionov tallied his sixth goal of the season, while Oscar Moeller and Viatcheslav Voynov picked up the assists. The P-Bruins once again battled back to take the lead at the 5:13 mark. Sean Zimmerman held the puck in the corner and passed it to Hamill at the right point. He shot it towards the net, where it was tipped in by MacDonald for his sixth goal of the season. The Monarchs tied the game at three at the 10:20 mark. David Meckler netted his tenth goal of the season, with Marc-Andre Cliche and Moeller getting the assists. Manchester took its first lead of the game at the 10:55 mark. Kolomatis scored his fourth goal of the season, while Cliche and Moeller once again had the assists. The Monarchs finished of the second period with a goal at the 15:21 mark. Moeller scored unassisted, his ninth goal of the season. Manchester led 5-3 going into the second intermission.
The Monarchs grabbed a 6-3 advantage at the 7:12 mark of the third period, while on the power play. Bud Holloway tallied his tenth goal of the season, with Dwight King and Justin Azevedo recording the assists. Manchester finished off the scoring at the 12:22 mark, while on the power play. Cliche netted his eighth goal of the season, with Moeller and Kolomatis grabbing the assists. Manchester went onto the 7-3 victory.
Nolan Schaefer stopped 38 of 45 shots for the P-Bruins, while Martin Jones made 23 saves for the Monarchs. The P-Bruins were 0-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-5 on the penalty kill.
The P-Bruins continue their five game road trip at the XL Center to take on the Connecticut Whale Saturday at 5:00 p.m. The P-Bruins wrap up the road trip Sunday at the Arena at Harbor Yard at 3:00 p.m. against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Providence is back at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, January 7 for Kid's Hat Night at 7:05 p.m. against the Monarchs.
