Rampage fall 5-1 To Bruins on Saturday

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The San Antonio Rampage fell 5-1 to the Providence Bruins on Saturday night at the AT&T Center. Bruins forward Jeremy Reich had a hat trick to power the visitors to the win.

The Bruins got on the scoreboard first as defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk fired a shot from the left point that was deflected by forward Jeremy Reich into the net at 4:32. Reich struck again at 8:52 as he converted a great pass across the goal mouth by forward Martins Karsums for a 2-0 Bruins lead after one period. Providence out shot the Rampage 14-7 in the frame.

After a tough first period the Rampage came out with some jump in the second period. Forward Brett MacLean centered the puck from the right wall to forward Garth Murray who scooped it home from the slot at 9:54 for his fourth tally of the season to cut the deficit to one goal. MacLean has now recorded points in six of his last seven games.

In the third period the Rampage applied furious pressure, including a 1:21 two-man advantage, but were unable to get the tying goal. Forward Brad Marchand put the Bruins up 3-1 at 11:34 with a wrister to cap off a two-on-one rush. Reich then finished off the hat trick with a breakaway tally at 14:29. Forward Jordan Knackstedt finished off the scoring with an empty net goal at 18:34. FINAL SCORE Providence 5, San Antonio 1.

Al Montoya stopped 27 of 31 shots in 58:34 and fell to 1-5-0. Tuukka Rask stopped 30 of 31 shots in 60 minutes and improved to 5-2-0. Both teams went 0-3 on the power play. The Bruins out shot the Rampage 32-31.

San Antonio is on the road next Friday night at Milwaukee. The Rampage return home this coming Saturday against Quad City at 7 p.m.
