WORCESTER-Despite coming off of an exhausting battle the night before, the Sharks looked impressive at home, besting the Manchester Monarchs, 4-1.

The scoring began only four and a half minutes into the match, when Cory Larose made the most of Tom Cavanagh's shot on goal, by scooping up the rebound on the right wing side and putting the puck in the back of the net. Both Cavanagh and Ryan Vesce were credited with assists on the play.

Worcester struck again when Cavanagh scored ten minutes later on the power play. After working the puck around the attack zone, Derek Joslin found Mike Morris in the slot, who lifted a wrist shot at Monarch goalie Jonathan Quick. Quick made the save, but Steven Zalewski corralled the rebound and allowed Cavanagh to toss a backhand by Quick for his third goal of the season. Zalewski and Morris assisted on the play.

Manchester, however, would stay competitive when Denny Johnston scored on what would be a controversial goal. Johnston's shot hit the horizontal post and the puck ricocheted back onto the ice. After a few minutes of discussion, the officials confirmed that the shot was a goal. Viatcheslav Voynov and Alec Martinez notched assists on the goal.

After a scoreless second period, the Sharks countered with another power play goal six minutes into the third. After fighting through a scrum in front of net, Larose was able to secure the puck and, from his knees, deftly send a backhand pass across the ice to an open Lukas Kaspar, who wristed the puck into the open net.

The Sharks would not relent in the third, as Mike Morris found himself in a one-on-one situation and was able to convert. The Massachusetts native edged past Manchester defenseman Alec Martinez and used the net as a shield when he circled the net and notched the wrap-around goal.

With just seven minutes left in the contest, Monarch forward Kevin Westgarth targeted Frazer McLaren, wanting retribution for a hit McLaren landed on Manchester's Josh Kidd just seconds earlier. Westgarth came from behind and started a fight against a defenseless McLaren. Westgarth received 19 minutes in penalties, including a game misconduct.

The win brings Worcester to 4-4-0-0, while the loss drops Manchester to 2-5-0-1.
