Obama's Bobble Gets Nod From Griffins Fans

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Less than 72 hours before Election Day, fans of the Grand Rapids Griffins made their voices heard before Saturday's game against the Milwaukee Admirals, choosing Barack Obama as the winner of the team's "Bobble the Vote ‘08" giveaway.

The last of Obama's 1,000 bobbleheads was claimed when 102 of John McCain's still remained, giving the Democrat 52.7 percent of the vote (1,000) to McCain's 47.3 percent (898).

"If McCain hadn't made a hard-headed decision to pull out of Michigan several weeks ago, this could've been an even closer call for Obama," opined Tim Gortsema, the Griffins' senior vice president of business operations. "On the other hand, given Michigan's traditional blue-state tendencies, perhaps McCain's slim margin of defeat gives him hope that this could once again be a key bobble-state on Tuesday.

"Regardless, neither candidate should get too big a head over these results."
