SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage (5-0-3-0) extended their point streak to seven games, but fell 4-3 in overtime to the Chicago Wolves (6-1-0-1) in front of 6,194 at the AT&T Center on Friday night. Borna Rendulic scored his first goal of the season and added an assist to earn the Third Star of the Game.
The Rampage scored the game's opening goal for the sixth time in their eight games this season. Maxim Noreau converted off a pass from Hubert Labrie on the power play to give San Antonio a 1-0 lead at the 16:20 mark.
The Silver and Black scored quickly in the middle frame to take a 2-0 lead, as Borna Rendulic potted his first of the season just 14 seconds into the period.
The Wolves scored the next two, getting tallies from Jordan Schmaltz and Yannick Veilleux to knot the game at two just past the midway point of the period.
Rendulic and Colin Smith connected for San Antonio's third goal of the game. Skating down the ice with a 2-on-1 breakaway, Rendulic sent a cross-ice pass to Smith, who finished to give the Rampage a 3-2 lead heading into the second intermission.
Still trailing late in regulation, the Wolves pulled goalie Jordan Binnington, and with the extra attacker, Jeremy Welsh scored the equalizer to send the game to overtime, the fourth straight game the Rampage have needed an extra frame to determine a winner. Danny Kristo netted the game-winner at the 3:26 mark of overtime.
San Antonio finished 1-for-3 on the power play while holding the Wolves scoreless on three opportunities with the man advantage. Calvin Pickard made 30 saves on 34 shots. The Rampage outshot the Wolves 40-34.
