Marlies Spoil B-Sens Return Home in 6-1 Loss
November 7, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators returned home for the middle of their three-game weekend and fell 6-1 to the Toronto Marlies. Following a scoreless first period, the Marlies managed three goals in the second and third periods to claim the victory.
William Nylander opened the scoring with his seventh strike of the year 2:26 into the middle frame when his wrist shot beat Matt O'Connor clean over his blocker side. Andrew Campbell doubled the visitors lead less than seven minutes later before Richard Panik struck with less than two minutes to play in the period to give the Marlies the 3-0 advantage heading into the second intermission.
Zach Hyman made it 4-0 with a shorthanded goal 2:34 into the third. Binghamton cut the score to 4-1 6:16 into the period when Ryan Dzingel lifted his own rebound over Garret Sparks for his third strike of the season, but that was as far as Binghamton's rally would go. A pair of goals by T.J. Brennan just under three minutes apart moved the final score to 6-1 Toronto.
O'Connor stopped 36 of 42 shots faced in the losing effort while Sparks stifled 34 of 35 shots to earn his fourth straight win.
Binghamton finishes up the busy weekend with a 5:05p.m. matchup against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms tomorrow afternoon in Allentown. Fans can listen live on US Country 96.9FM, WINR 680AM or on the iHeart Radio App.
