IceHogs Clash with Admirals on Military Appreciation Night
November 7, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill. - After defeating the Grand Rapids Griffins on the road last night, the Rockford IceHogs (7-3-0-1) will try to improve to 7-0-0-1 in their last eight games when they take on the Milwaukee Admirals (4-4-1-0) at the BMO Harris Bank Center tonight at 7 p.m.
The IceHogs will celebrate Military Appreciation Night, with several tributes to the armed services planned over the course of the evening. Active and former members of the armed services can receive free tickets with valid ID and discounted tickets for family and friends at the box office. The Air Force will be on hand with a pull-up contest and gear for fans to put on. The first 1,500 fans in the building will receive a bomber hat courtesy of Pepsi.
Rockford won the only showdown between the teams this season on October 24 when they downed Milwaukee on the road 4-2. Marko Dano scored the game-winning goal while Michael Leighton turned aside 23 shots in the win.
Despite not scoring more than four goals in any game so far this season, the IceHogs have not lost in regulation since October 18, when they fell 7-2 to the Texas Stars at home. Since then, the IceHogs have earned six wins and dropped a shootout decision in seven games against divisional opponents while only allowing 10 goals.
The penalty kill has improved significantly since the start of the season. Rockford's penalty kill unit has gone 15-for-15 over the team's last four games, bumping the team percentage to an 81.5% success rate.
Leighton has been dominant during the hot streak, allowing nine goals while going 5-0-0-1. Ryan Hartman is on a four-game goal streak, as he scored on either side of his two-game stint with the Chicago Blackhawks. Bryan Bickell scored his 42nd goal in an IceHogs sweater in his first game back with the team in last night's 4-1 win over Grand Rapids.
Next Home Game: Sunday, Nov. 22 vs. Lake Erie at 4 p.m.: The IceHogs face Lake Erie for the first time all season on Stanley Cup Night at the BMO Harris Bank Center. Rockford will celebrate its alumni and the Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks by displaying the Cup for fans in attendance. Hub Printing will give away 2,500 posters celebrating the Blackhawks championships.
