San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (December 3, 2011) -- The San Antonio Rampage won their third game in four contests on Saturday night, beating the Oklahoma City Barons 2-1 at the AT&T Center in front of a crowd of 8,290.
San Antonio forward Michal Repik put the Rampage ahead early when he stripped a Barons defender of the puck at the Oklahoma City blue line and scored on a breakaway goal at 8:49 of the first period. He skated in on Barons goalie David LeNeveu and deked to his left before lifting a backhand over LeNeveu's blocker to give San Antonio a 1-0 lead. Forward Wacey Rabbit picked up his fourth assist of the season on the play and newly acquired center James Wright tallied his first point as a member of the Rampage with the secondary helper.
The Barons tied the game at 1-1 when center Tanner House scored at the 13:30 mark of the second period off of a goal-mouth scramble. House found a loose puck in the crease and beat a sprawling Rampage netminder Dov Grumet-Morris for his second marker of the year. Forwards Triston Grant and Milan Kytnar received the assists on the House goal.
Left wing Evan Barlow regained the lead for San Antonio with 18 seconds remaining in the second session on a quick passing play at the front of the net. Right wing Bill Thomas corralled a rebound off of LeNeveu in the right corner and sent a pass to the slot where Barlow buried a one-timer to give San Antonio a 2-1 edge. Defenseman Tyson Strachan also assisted on Barlow's third goal of the season.
Grumet-Morris made 26 saves on 27 Oklahoma City shots for his third win in as many games with the Rampage this year and has allowed only two goals on 79 shots faced. LeNeveu stopped 22 of 24 Rampage shots in the Barons' loss.
The Rampage (10-12-0-0) are back in action at the AT&T Center on Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. matchup against their in-state rivals, the Houston Aeros.
