NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals have recalled forward Philip-Michael Devos (DUH-voss) from the ECHL's Florida Everblades, Admirals General Manager Julien BriseBois announced today.
Devos, 21, a 5-foot-11, 184-pound center from Sorel-Tracy, Qubec, has recorded four goals and 15 points for the Everblades in the first 20 games of his professional career. He is tied for second on Florida in points while leading the team with 11 assists. He has also recorded two power play goals. Devos made his professional debut on October 14 vs. Gwinnett, recording an assist. He notched his first pro goal two games later on October 22 at Trenton.
Last season, Devos won the Jean Bliveau Trophy as the top scorer in the Qubec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). In 68 games between the Victoriaville Tigres and Gatineau Olympiques, Devos scored 47 goals and 114 points. He also registered 31 penalty minutes and a plus-29 rating. Devos led the QMJHL in points and ranked second in goals and assists (67).
Despite appearing in only 41 of Victoriaville's 68 games prior to being traded to Gatineau, Devos still led the Tigres in scoring with 73 points (29g, 44a). Following his trade to the Olympiques, Devos played 27 games and scored 18 goals and 41 points. He helped Gatineau reach the 2011 President's Cup Finals, where they fell in six games to the Saint John Sea Dogs. In 24 post-season games, Devos recorded ten goals and 29 points.
In addition to the Bliveau Trophy, Devos also was a 2010-11 QMJHL Second All-Star Team selection and recipient of the Frank J. Selke Trophy as the QMJHL's Most Sportsmanlike Player. Devos was also a finalist for the league's most valuable player award.
Devos played 325 games during his five-year junior career between the Tigres and Olympiques, scoring 112 goals and 294 points with 194 penalty minutes. In 50 career QMJHL playoff games, Devos recorded 22 goals and 58 points.
