Albany Devils News Release
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Despite outshooting the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 36-19, the Albany Devils fell, 3-1, Saturday at Webster Bank Arena. The two teams split their home-and-home series with the Devils taking Friday's game, 4-3.
Albany is now 11-8-2-1, while Bridgeport improves to 11-8-3-1.
Chad Wiseman was Albany's goal scorer and Steve Zalewski provided the helper. The goal was Wiseman's second of the season and 11th point. Zalewski, who now has nine points (3g-6a) in the last seven games, earned his team-leading 15th point.
The Devils trailed, 1-0, at 1:06 of the second period thanks to Tyler McNeely capitalizing on a Devils defensive turnover.
Wiseman tied the score at 5:50 of the third period on a Sound Tigers miscue in their defensive zone. Zalewski found Wiseman for a blast from the left circle.
The game remained tied until rookie Casey Cizikas redirected a shot at 13:33 through the body of goaltender Jeff Frazee. Then Rhett Rakhshani scored an empty-net, power-play goal at 19:32 to produce the final score.
Frazee finished the game with 16 saves, while Kevin Poulin had 35 stops for the win.
Albany was 0-for-7 with the man-advantage, while Rakhshani's empty-netter made Bridgeport 1-for-6 on the power play.
The Devils welcome to Rochester Americans to the Times Union Center Sunday for a 4 p.m. matchup. Fans can participate in the annual "Teddy Bear Toss". All stuffed animals will be donated to the Albany Boys & Girls Club and the Albany Police Athletic League (P.A.L.).
