Syracuse, NY (December 3, 2011) - Nick Bonino and Kyle Palmieri both collected two points as the Crunch defeated the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 5-2 tonight at the War Memorial Arena.

Penguins center Ben Street found himself in the penalty box early on a cross-checking call, sending the Crunch on a power play. The Crunch capitalized on the power play as Brandon McMillan put the puck past Penguins goalie Brad Thiessen five minutes into the game to put the Crunch ahead 1-0. The goal was assisted by Dan Sexton and Kyle Cumiskey.

Early in the second period, the Crunch struck again as Patrick Maroon scored his 10th goal of the season, assisted by Bonino and Palmieri, putting the Crunch up 2-0.

The Penguins cut the Crunch lead in half with eight minutes remaining in the second period. Geoff Walker, assisted by Eric Tangradi and Alex Grant, found the back of Crunch goalie Iiro Tarkki's net, bringing the score to 2-1 Syracuse. With 21 seconds remaining in the period, Palmieri scored his 13th goal of the season off a face-off pass from Bonino to bring the score to 3-1 in favor of the Crunch.

"Bonino won the face off clean...I put myself in a position to get a shot right off the draw," said Palmieri. "I got the opportunity to pull it and shoot to the outside. I pulled it and then I tried to shoot far-side."

The Crunch started off the third period in the same fashion as they ended the second. Three minutes in, Troy Bodie redirected a Mat Clark shot to put the Crunch ahead 4-1.

With seven minutes remaining in the period, the Penguins struck back as a Brian Gibbons goal made it 4-2 Crunch. Jason Williams and Nick Petersen picked up the assists.

But the Crunch weren't done yet. Peter Holland scored with an unassisted wrist shot from the left circle to put the Crunch on top 5-2 with five minutes to play in regulation.

The Crunch travel to St. John's for a two-game tilt with the IceCaps on December 6 and 7. Both games begin at 6 pm.
