San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO (March 16, 2011)- The San Antonio Rampage downed the Milwaukee Admirals 2-1 in a shootout on Wednesday night in front of 6,484 fans at the AT&T Center. They improve to a 37-25-3-1 record good for 78 points on the year.

San Antonio was the first to score as they claimed a 1-0 lead on their first power play opportunity of the night 9:15 after the initial puck drop when center Bracken Kearns redirected Viktor Tikhonov's shot from the blue line through the five-hole of Admirals goaltender Mark Dekanich. Dane Byers chipped in on the play with an assist.

Milwaukee evened the score at 1-1 when Chris Mueller's backhanded pass from behind the net found the stick of left wing Gabriel Bourque above the crease who punched it high glove side past Rampage netminder Matt Climie 11:36 into the second period.

After a scoreless third period, the game entered overtime. At the 2:52 mark of the extra frame, Dekanich left the contest with an injury allowing backup goaltender Jeremy Smith to take the ice. The Rampage outshot the Admirals 5-0 in the extra session but were unable to light the lamp sending the game into a shooutout.

Viktor Tikhonov, Ned Lukacevic and Matt Beaudoin each tallied goals in the shootout to give San Antonio a 2-1 victory over West Division-leading Milwaukee. The Rampage improve to 7-1 in the shootout on the season.

Climie made 21 saves on 22 Admirals shot attempts including stopping three of four in the shootout while Dekanich and Smith combined for 26 saves on 27 Rampage shot attempts.

The Rampage return to the ice on Friday night when they play the second part of a two-game home stand against the Milwaukee Admirals at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.
