Milwaukee Admirals News Release
San Antonio, TX--The San Antonio Rampage scored three times in five attempts during a shootout to defeat the Milwaukee Admirals Wednesday at the AT&T Center, 2-1.
The Admirals gained a point and moved into sole possession of first place. The Admirals have 85 points in 67 games while second-place Houston, which didn't play Wednesday night, has 84 points in 70 games.
In the shootout, Gabriel Bourque scored Milwaukee's lone goal in 4 attempts. Viktor Tikhonov, Ned Lukacevic and Matt Beaudoin tallied for the Rampage in the shootout.
Former Admirals center Bracken Kearns gave San Antonio a 1-0 lead at 9:15 of the first period with a power play goal. Kearns, standing in front of Admirals goalie Mark Dekanich, was able to tip a shot from the point by Viktor Tikhonov into the net for his 17th goal of the season.
The Admirals tied the game at 11:36 of the second period when Bourque scored his 15th goal of the season. Another former Admiral, Nolan Yonkman, tried to clear the puck around the San Antonio net. The attempt was intercepted by Chris Mueller. Mueller spun on the defender and flipped a pass into the crease as he fell to the ice where Bourque blasted his 3rd goal in the last two games.
The Ads will stay in San Antonio for one more contest against the Rampage Friday before flying home Saturday, March 19 for a game against the Lake Erie Monsters.
