Moose Host Military Appreciation Night on Friday, March 18th

The Manitoba Moose, in conjunction with the Canadian Forces, are pleased to present the sixth annual Manitoba Moose Military Appreciation Night on Friday, March 18, 2011 when the Texas Stars visit MTS Centre.

For the second straight year, the Moose will be presenting the Manitoba Moose/Canadian Forces Local Hero Award to one deserving member of the military. The award recognizes a military member who has displayed outstanding service and dedication to the community of Winnipeg through volunteer participation in local organizations, government sponsored activities and humanitarian work. The recipient of this year's award will be introduced prior to puck drop at centre ice and presented with a framed Manitoba Moose Military Jersey by Honorary Colonel Jim Ludlow of Air Force Unit 1 Canadian Forces Flight Training School at 17 Wing and president & CEO of True North Sports & Entertainment Limited.

When the Manitoba Moose hit the ice against the Texas Stars, they will be wearing limited edition Arctic camouflage military jerseys emblazoned on the shoulder with the official crest of the Canadian Rangers. There will also be military themed in-game graphics featuring Arctic camouflage.

Military Appreciation Night will feature many musical acts performing from 6:00 p.m. until game time, as well as during the game intermissions. Musical acts include the HMCS Chippawa Band, who will perform in the Front Atrium of MTS Centre, the Air Command Band's Brass Quintet located on the Game Day Stage, and the 402nd Squadron Pipes and Drums who will perform on the 300-level for seated fans prior to the University of Winnipeg pre-game warm-up. The entire Air Command Band will perform both the U.S. and Canadian national anthems while being accompanied by the 17 Wing Flag Party.

The first 5000 fans through the doors on Friday night will receive a limited edition Manitoba Moose hockey card pack.
