March 16, 2011 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Texas Stars News Release

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars announced on Wednesday the team will host "Teddy Bear Toss Night" on Friday, April 1st against the Chicago Wolves at 7:30 pm at Cedar Park Center.

As part of its participation in Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Texas Stars Foundation will host a Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring teddy bears and stuffed animals to benefit the Settlement Home for Children of Round Rock, where the stuffed animals will be given to residents in foster and adoption programs, therapeutic group homes, or residential treatment centers. The settlement home serves more than 70% of the greater Central Texas area. It is dedicated to helping children who have been abused and neglected by resolving their emotional, behavioral, and familial problems while providing quality residential care.

During Chuck A Puck in the 2nd intermission, fans can toss their stuffed animals onto the ice, where they will be gathered and distributed at the Settlement Home.

The Texas Stars Foundation will recognize Child Abuse Prevention Month, a national campaign throughout the month of April, designed to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect while creating strong communities to support children and families. For more information on Child Abuse Prevention Month, visit www.childwelfare.gov .

Prior to the game, John Bradley, Williamson County District Attorney and Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Williamson County Child Advocacy Center will perform a ceremonial puck drop on behalf of the organization. According to Bradley, "children are especially vulnerable and deserve special protection", which is why he donates his time to this cause.

For the evening, the Williamson County Child Advocacy Center will participate in Chuck A Puck, a fundraiser geared toward engaging fans and allowing them to toss foam pucks onto the ice for a chance to win a prize. The fundraiser allows the charity to effectively raise awareness for their cause and educate fans about their efforts and needs.

Texas continues a five-game road trip on Friday, March 18th in Manitoba at 7:30 PM. Texas returns home to face the Houston Aeros on Tuesday, March 22 at 7:30 PM. Fans may bring in any H-E-B store brand non-perishable food product to the game to receive $5 off your ticket price. Tuesday is also a 3-2-1 night. Fans can purchase $3 domestic 12 oz drafts, $2 regular sodas and $1 hot dogs.
