San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage (45-21-5-1) clinched the franchise's first-ever West Division title with a 2-0 win over the Grand Rapids Griffins (43-21-6-2) in front of 8,734 at the AT&T Center Friday night. The win also puts the Rampage back in the top spot in the Western Conference, one point ahead of the Utica Comets.
Sam Brittain recorded his first AHL shutout, earning the First Star of the game with 22 saves, and Quinton Howden and Garrett Wilson each picked up goals for the Rampage.
San Antonio and Grand Rapids skated nearly 30 minutes before Howden picked up a rebound off a Connor Brickley shot and buried it past Tom McCollum. The goal gave the Rampage their 239th tally of the season, setting a new franchise record for goals in a season, and the Silver and Black took a 1-0 lead into the second intermission.
Wilson gave the Rampage a two-goal lead at the 9:55 mark of the final frame, deflecting a Greg Zanon blast into the net to secure a 2-0 victory for San Antonio.
The Rampage outshot the Griffins 35-22, including a 13-5 advantage in the first period.
