Albany Devils News Release

BINGHAMTON, NY -- Two early goals in the third period gave life to the Albany Devils, but it wasn't enough to erase a 5-0 deficit Friday at Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena against the Binghamton Senators. The Devils fell to the Senators by a final score of 6-3 moving to 33-27-5-6. Albany is still five points out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, behind Portland and Springfield with 77 points.

Tim Sestito ended a two period shutout by Senators goaltender Chris Driedger, beating him glove side just 35 seconds into the final frame. 2:08 later, rookie defenseman Joe Faust tallied his first professional goal with a blast from the point. Mike Sislo capped the scoring for Albany at 12:28 of the third period for his 18th of the season.

Joe Whitney, who returned to the lineup after missing three games to injury, led Albany with three points. The left-winger tallied assists on all three Devils goals for his team leading 50th, 51st and 52nd points and notched his 200th AHL point on his second helper. Brandon Burlon (2a) and Sestito (1g, 1a) also tallied a multi-point game.

For Binghamton, Cole Schneider completed the hat trick to pay the favor back to Paul Thompson who's trifecta lifted the Devils over the Senators last weekend. Schneider finished the game with four points, backed by three goals and an assist.

Aaron Johnson, Shane Prince and Matthew Zay also scored for Binghamton.

In net for Albany, Scott Wedgewood turned aside 11 shots in the first period, and six in the second and third. At the other end, Driedger stopped 33 of 36 shots faced.
