
Condon makes 41 saves in victory

CEDAR PARK, TEXAS - Hamilton Bulldogs forward Nick Sorkin scored twice, including the game-winning goal midway through the third period, to lead the 'Dogs (33-27-12-0) to a 4-3 win over the Texas Stars (36-22-13-1) at Cedar Park Center in Cedar Park, Texas on Friday evening.
Sorkin opened the scoring at 2:25 of the first period with his 10th goal of the season, assisted by forward Drayson Bowman and defenceman Bobby Shea.
At 10:08 of the first period, Stars forward Branden Troock tied the game 1-1 when he deflected a point shot taken by defenceman Julius Honka. Forward Gemel Smith had a second assist on the play.
Just 25 seconds into the second period, Hamilton forward Eric Tangradi put a wrist shot from the left circle past Texas goaltender Jussi Rynnas to give the 'Dogs a 2-1 lead. Forwards Christian Thomas and Gabriel Dumont had assists on Tangradi's 13th goal of the year.
With just over four minutes to go in the second period, Stars forward Derek Hulak beat Bulldogs goaltender Mike Condon on the power play to tie the game, 2-2. Forwards Travis Morin and Greg Rallo drew assists.
Texas forward Justin Dowling scored on a wrist shot from the left circle 1:15 into the third period to put the Stars ahead 3-2. Forward Curtis McKenzie assisted.
Less than two minutes later, 'Dogs forward Connor Crisp found forward Brandon McNally in the high slot and McNally ripped a one-timer home for his first professional goal and point to tie the game, 3-3.
Sorkin cut to the slot and ripped his second of the night and 11th of the season for the game winner at 12:13 of the third period, unassisted.
Condon made 41 saves on 44 shots for the Bulldogs in the win, while Rynnas stopped 32 of 36 shots for the Stars in the loss.
Hamilton was 0-for-3 on the power play, while Texas went 1-for-2 on the man advantage.
With the win, the 'Dogs now sit one point back of the final playoff spot in the American Hockey League's Western Conference with four games remaining.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday, April 11 when they'll visit the Texas Stars at Cedar Park Center in Cedar Park, Texas at 8 p.m. ET. The 'Dogs will return home for their final AHL regular season game on Fan Appreciation Night, Saturday, April 18, when they'll host the Lake Erie Monsters at FirstOntario Centre at 7 p.m.
