San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO (April 13, 2014) - Scott Clemmensen recorded his first shutout of the season and sixth of his AHL career, making 40 saves to lead the San Antonio Rampage (30-35-3-6) past the Texas Stars (47-18-3-6) 1-0 in a shootout on Sunday evening in front of a crowd of 6,796 at the AT&T Center.

After combining for 17 total goals in the first two games of the weekend series, the Rampage and the Stars played three scoreless periods in the final meeting of the season between the West Division rivals.

Clemmensen came up with game-saving stops throughout the game, including a huge save on a Texas breakaway late in the second period in which he denied a Brendan Ranford shot to keep the game scoreless. San Antonio had a couple good scoring chances in the second period. A Joey Crabb backhand went just wide, and Jack Campbell robbed Garrett Wilson on the doorstep as he looked to convert on a Wade Megan pass from behind the net.

In overtime, the Rampage killed off a 5-on-3 and a power play in to force a league-leading 18th shootout of the season. Bobby Butler and Logan Shaw scored in the skills competition, and Clemmensen stopped 4-of-5 shooters for Texas to give the Rampage the win and end the Stars' 11-game win streak.

The Stars outshot the Rampage 40-30, including a 20-9 margin in the second period. The Silver and Black were scoreless on four power play opportunities while Texas was 0-for-3 with the man advantage. Four of the 12 games in the season series with the Stars were decided in a shootout with the Rampage earning the win in each. San Antonio leads the league with 12 shootout victories.

The Rampage wrap up the 2013-14 season with a two-game series against the Abbotsford Heat beginning on Thursday at 7 p.m., the last All-You-Can-Eat Night of the season at the AT&T Center. Individual and season tickets can be purchased by calling a Rampage representative at 210-444-5554 or online at sarampage.com .
