Marlies Score Three in Third to Post Comeback Win

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release
WILKES-BARRE, PA - Kenny Ryan's goal with 26.6 seconds left in regulation capped a Toronto comeback, as the Marlies rallied from two goals down to post a 3-2 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Sunday afternoon.
The Penguins (42-24-3-5, 92 points) remained in first place by one point in the East Division despite the loss, thanks to a 1-0 Hershey overtime win against the second place Binghamton Senators.
Toronto (43-24-2-4, 92 points) snapped a two-game losing skid on their current five-game road trip, which continues on Wednesday night in Binghamton.
The Penguins jumped out to a 1-0 lead 3:06 into the game when Adam Payerl snapped a shot from the slot that beat netminder Garrett Sparks for his fourth goal of the season.
Tom Kostopoulos doubled the lead 1:35 into the second period, slamming home a Barry Goers cross-ice feed at the far post for his team-leading 22nd goal of the season.
The Penguins allowed just eight shots to find their way to Tomas Vokoun through the first 40 minutes, but the Marlies turned on the offense in the third, putting 13 shots on the veteran goaltender and finding the back of the net three times.
Greg McKegg got the visitors on the board at 8:53, sneaking in on the back door after a scramble at the near post to net his 19th goal of the season - a power play marker.
Toronto tied the game 39 seconds later when T. J. Brennan's slapshot from the point beat Vokoun high on the glove side, giving the Marlie's defenseman his 24th goal of the season, tops among AHL blue liners.
With time running down, Jerry D'Amigo took a shot at a crowd in front of the Penguins net, and saw the puck deflect right out to Ryan in the slot. His one-timer beat Vokoun, who was sliding cross crease but couldn't get all the way back to the far post, for the game-winner.
The Penguins finish up their 2013-14 regular season with a pair of road contests next Friday in Binghamton and Saturday in Utica.
Penguins playoff ticket packages are on sale now by calling the Penguins at 570-208-7367.
