Admirals Shutout Wild 3-0

Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Wild (27-36-6-4, 64 points) were defeated by the Milwaukee Admirals (38-23-6-7, 89 points) 3-0 in front of 6,720 fans at the Wells Fargo Arena on Sunday night. Admirals goalie Scott Darling (13-5-2) made 24 saves to earn the shutout, his third against Iowa this season. Defenseman Charles-Olivier Roussel scored in the second period, and forwards Mathieu Tousignant and Francis Wathier added insurance tallies in the third period. Iowa goalie Joel Martin (0-2-0) stopped 30 shots in the loss. The Wild plays Chicago at Wells Fargo Arena at 7:05 p.m. this Wednesday.

After a scoreless first period, the Admirals opened the scoring at 13:44 of the second period by Charles-Olivier Roussel. The defenseman scored unassisted near the slot, beating Iowa goalie Joel Martin on the glove side.

The Admirals added to the lead at 2:45 of the third period with a goal by Mathieu Tousignant. The forward scored off a rebound, making it 2-0. Forwards Mikka Salomaki and Vinny Saponari each picked up an assist on the play. Milwaukee added another, a power-play goal at 13:08 by Francis Wathier. The forward jammed the puck through traffic, beating Martin. Admirals forwards Patrick Cehlin and Austin Watson each assisted on the final goal of the game.

The Wild welcomes Chicago for the final regular season home game on Wednesday, April 16 at 7:05 p.m. Fans may purchase a $5 ticket to the game by presenting a Subway receipt at the Wells Fargo box office. The team concludes its regular season in Oklahoma City at 7 p.m. on April 18 and April 19.
