Stars Tie Franchise Record 12-Game Point Streak in Shootout Loss to San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Jack Campbell stopped all 29 shots he faced to record his fourth shutout of the year, but Texas Stars lost 1-0 in a shootout to the San Antonio Rampage Sunday afternoon at AT&T Center. The point earned by Texas tied the franchise record for longest point streak (12 games) in team history.

The first period was scoreless, but Texas came close to finding the net twice. First rookie hit the left post with a shot from the right side and then Derek Meech blasted a shot from the point which rang off the cross bar. The officials went to the video replay system to review Meech's shot, but ruled it to be no goal.

Campbell came up with his best save of the game in the third period during a Rampage power play. A wrap-around attempt came through the crease, hit a skate and aimed for the far post, but Campbell extended his left pad to keep the game scoreless. The Stars had a great chance to win the game in overtime, when San Antonio took two penalties at once and gave Texas a five-on-three power play. The Rampage circled the wagons and got the game to a shootout.

Bobby Butler gave San Antonio the lead with a goal in the second round, but it was immediately answered by Brendan Ranford, who beat goalie Scott Clemmensen with a beautiful deke and backhand finish. Logan Shaw scored through Campbell's five-hole in the fourth round and Justin Dowling hit the post in the fifth round with Texas' final shot to give the Rampage the 1-0 victory.

Scott Clemmensen (4-5-0) stopped all 40 shots he faced and went 4-for-5 in the shootout to record his fourth win and first shutout in the AHL this season in goal for San Antonio. Jack Campbell (14-1-2) picked up his team-leading fourth shutout of the year in goal for Texas, but was tagged with shootout loss as he made 29 saves in regulation and overtime and went 3-for-5 in the skills competition. The Stars out-shot the Rampage 40-29 and went 0-for-3 on the power play, while San Antonio was 0-for-4 with the man-advantage.

Notes: Justin Dowling played in his 200th career pro game tonight. The shootout point for Texas extended the Stars' current point streak to 12 games (11-0-0-1), tying the franchise record, which was originally set during the 2009-10 season.

The Texas Stars are back in action on Wednesday, April 16th at 7:00 p.m. as they battle the Oklahoma City Barons at Cox Convention Center. Texas will complete its 2013-14 regular season schedule at Cedar Park Center on Saturday, April 19th at 7:00 p.m. against the Abbotsford Heat.
