CEDAR PARK, Texas - The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars, opened training camp Wednesday ahead of the 2026-27 season. The initial training camp roster consists of 19 players, including 10 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.
Additionally, Texas signed veteran defenseman Ben Gleason to a one-year AHL standard player contract for the 2026-27 season.
Gleason, 28, returns to Texas where he started his professional career in 2018 and played five seasons in the organization. The left-shot blueliner spent 2025-26 with the Iowa Wild, where he posted 22 points (2g, 20a) in 59 games. He played 69 games with the Bakersfield Condors from 2023-24, before finishing the 2024-25 campaign with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Gleason ranks second all-time among Texas defensemen for games played (290), goals (29), assists (112), and points (114). He also played four NHL games with Dallas during the 2018-19 season.

Nine different players who played at least one game for Texas during the 2025-26 season were on the ice for the first day of training camp, including five forwards, three defensemen and one goaltender. 13 others from last season's AHL roster are still on the Dallas Stars' training camp roster as of Wednesday morning.
Veteran forward Curtis McKenzie returns for his 14^th professional season and 11^th in the Stars organization. The 35-year-old captained Texas in each of the past five seasons and ranks second in team history in games played (567), points (401), goals (164) and assists (237), while holding the team records for penalty minutes (703) and power play goals (55).
Six players received invitations to Cedar Park on training camp tryouts, including Jake Borczewski, John Driscoll, Lee Lapid, Jens Richards, Morgan Winters, and Nicholas Young.
More players could be added to the AHL training camp roster from Dallas in the coming days as the NHL club continues to reduce its roster to the 23-player maximum by opening night.
