Cleburne Railroaders News Release
KANSAS CITY, Kansas - Patrick Palmeiro went 3-for-5 and broke a 34-day homer drought with a two-run shot in the 8th inning, but Cleburne blew two late leads in a 6-5, walk-off loss to the Kansas City T-Bones in 11 innings at T-Bones Stadium on Friday night.
Palmeiro's first homer since July 13th gave Cleburne a two-run lead in the 8th inning, but Mason Davis drove in a run with a double in bottom-half of the inning before Anthony Phillips tied the game with a sacrifice fly in the 9th.
Trevor Sealey gave Cleburne a 5-4 lead with a two-out RBI single in the 11th, but Alay Lago clubbed a two-run double off of Roman Gomez to win the game with one out in the bottom of the 11th.
Cleburne starter Josh Hodges gave up a pair of runs over six innings, while Shawn Blackwell blew his third save of the year in the 9th inning.
Sealey added two more hits with a run scored and an RBI, while Angelo Gumbs extended his hitting streak to a season-best six games with an RBI single that tied the game at two in the 6th.
Hunter Clanin drove in the game's first run on a two-out RBI double in the 1st inning - his fourth consecutive game with an RBI, bringing his total to 11 over that stretch - but Alex Polston went 0-for-6 with four strikeouts in the leadoff spot.
Cleburne reliever Tyler Wilson made his first appearance since June 13th and gave up one run on one hit with three walks, recording only one out in the 8th.
Game 2 of the three-game series is set for tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. Cleburne will send LHP Michael Gunn to the mound to face former Railroader Jared Mortensen, making his first start for the T-Bones since being acquired in a mid-week trade.
The Railroaders return home to open a three-game set with the AirHogs - with the first two played at The Depot - on Monday, August 20. Tickets and all promo information are available at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by calling (817) 945-8705.
