GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - The Texas AirHogs scored twice in the eighth inning to overcome a two-run deficit and take a 4-3 thriller vs. Cleburne Thursday at AirHogs Stadium. The team remains in town this weekend to host the Lincoln Saltdogs.
Miguel Rosario (2-10) was magnificent as the AirHogs starter, going eight innings and over 120 pitches for the second time this season. He limited the RailRoaders to three runs (two earned) while striking out four and walking three.
Greg Golson picked up an early RBI for the AirHogs to even the contest at 1-1 after three. Cleburne tagged Rosario for a couple of runs in the fifth before Texas scored three times in the seventh and eighth.
Casio Grider proved key in the late rally, picking up a pair of RBIs. With the score tied at 3-3 in the eighth and Liang Pei on third, he sent a groundball to Alex Polston that the shortstop promptly fired to the plate. Liang slid around the tag by Cleburne catcher Paul Ludden and dove back to the dish to score the go-ahead run in dramatic fashion. The tally was the second he scored in the game.
Carlos Contreras earned his 11th save with a quick ninth. Golson finished with two hits and reached base four times. Cao Jie notched a pair of hits a day after hitting his first home run of the season. Trevor Sealey and Angelo Gumbs each recorded two hits for the RailRoaders.
Cleburne (28-55) starter Dylan Mouzakes took a no-decision after striking out ten in six innings. John Hayes (0-3) suffered the loss after committing an error, walking two and surrendering a pair of runs in the eighth. His error led to a run by AirHogs catcher Jesse Baker.
