Rafters Hope to Stay Hot in Finale with Chinooks

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - Riding a three-game win streak and sitting in first place in the Great Lakes West Division, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (18-9) face off against the second-place Lakeshore Chinooks (14-13) in game two on Friday.

The Rafters rallied to take game one on Thursday, winning 11-7. Richie Schiekofer led the way at the plate with three RBIs and a home run. Wisconsin Rapids now holds a 5-4 advantage in the season series and a four-game lead in the division standings.

Wisconsin Rapids is projected to start Neil Abbatiello, who has a 1.62 ERA and a 3-2 record. The senior lefty from Wagner has 46 strikeouts in 44.1 innings this summer. He will face Lakeshore's Jesse Slinger, who is 2-0 with a 4.83 ERA.

The Rafters are up by four games on Lakeshore, Green Bay, and Fond du Lac with nine games remaining in the second half of the regular season. Wisconsin Rapids also has a four-game advantage over Madison in the overall standings.

Rapids closes a four-game homestand with two games against the Kokomo Jackrabbits starting on Saturday, featuring a postgame fireworks show presented by Budweiser.
