San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO (April 2, 2015) - The San Antonio Rampage are proud to announce that Quinton Howden has been named the team's winner of the IOA/American Specialty Man of the Year award for his contributions to the San Antonio community during the 2014-15 season.

Howden missed 43 games this season with two different upper-body injuries. Instead of just sitting patiently while he healed, Howden used his time as an opportunity to show his support and give back to the community. He was persistent in his efforts, always asking what project he could help out with and even suggesting other ideas for ways he could be involved in community projects.

Howden was extremely involved in the Rampage's Team Up Challenge, a program that encourages students to apply what they are learning in the classroom to the real world through projects that address the needs of their community. He also took time to visit various veterans' communities, showing his appreciation for their service and handing out autographed pucks and tickets for an upcoming game.

Howden is now one of 30 finalists for the AHL's 2014-15 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced by the American Hockey League later this month. Rampage goalie Josh Tordjman won the award in 2010.
