Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee WI- With just six games remaining in the Admirals regular season, Milwaukee finds themselves in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race as they attempt to qualify for the post-season for the 13th straight year.
The Admirals continue their stretch run Friday, April 3rd at 7 pm at the BMO Harris Bradley Center when they host the defending Calder Cup Champion Texas Stars.
The Admirals have earned 78 points thus far through 70 games, good for seventh place in the Western Conference. With the top eight teams making the playoffs in each conference, every Admirals game to finish the year is of great importance.
The Chicago Wolves are right on the heels of the Admirals, sitting just one point behind with a total of 77 points. However, the Wolves have a bit of an advantage heading into the home stretch as they have played three fewer games than Milwaukee to this point, giving them those extra games to close any gap in the standings. Fittingly, there are two big match-ups looming for the Admirals and Wolves to close out the Amtrak Rivalry for the year. The first comes on Friday, April 10th from the BMO Harris Bradley Center at 7pm. The next is in Chicago to finish out the regular season on Saturday, April 18th at 7pm.
Two points ahead of the Admirals, sitting at sixth place in the Western Conference, are the Stars with 80 points. Similarly to Chicago, the Stars have games in hand over the Ads, having played 68 games to this point. Luckily for the Admirals, Friday's game against Texas couldn't come at a better time. If the Admirals are able to pull out a win Friday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center at 7pm vs Texas, they would be tied with the Stars for that 6th place spot.
They Admirals need to also keep an eye on a few other Western Conference teams fighting for a playoff spot: 9th place Rochester with 75 points, 10th place Toronto with 73 points (Milwaukee plays Toronto on April 17th), and 11th place Lake Erie with 73 points.
Each of these final six games will have big consequences within the Western Conference Playoff picture and Milwaukee will be looking for certain players to step up to the challenge. Things are looking promising for this young squad. The Ads have seen a lot of output on the score sheet from their new acquisition, Gary Steffes, who has scored three goals in just five games with the team.
They have also just gotten goal scorers Viktor Arvidsson (20g,31a for 51pts) and Kevin Fiala (9g, 8a, for 17pts with just 29 games played) back from Nashville just in time to make a playoff run.
Fans can purchase tickets for any Admirals game by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 or online at www.milwaukeeadmirals.com . Groups of ten or more receive a minimum of $2 off the face value of the tickets. For more information or to book a group fans should call the Admirals office at (414) 227-0550.
