WINNIPEG, Manitoba. - The Sioux Falls Pheasants losing streak hit a season-high four games with a 7-1 loss to the first-place Winnipeg Goldeyes on Sunday afternoon, as the Pheasants scored only one run for the second straight game.

The Pheasants (25-23) slipped to three games behind the Goldeyes in the North Division, while Fargo-Moorhead stayed in second place, one game off the pace.

Winnipeg (28-20) hit three straight singles in the first inning to collect their first run. Yurendell de Caster gathered the first of two RBI on the afternoon.

While lacking run support, Pheasants starter Rod Scurry (3-3) kept the Pheasants in the game by retiring 10 in a row from the second inning until a fateful five-run fifth inning for Winnipeg. Two errors from a normally solid Pheasants' infield helped the Goldeyes bat the entire lineup, as Price Kendall, Jon Weber and de Caster each cracked RBI hits.

The Pheasants were plagued for the second straight game with runners left on base, stranding 14, including eight left in scoring position. The Pheasants have left 25 aboard in two games.

Jared Bolden drove in the Pheasants' only run in the ninth with a fielder's choice, plating Jonny Kaplan. Joe Anthonsen and Jake Taylor had the only multi-hit games for the Pheasants.

Scurry suffered the loss despite a quality start. He surrendered six runs, three earned, on nine hits over seven innings while walking one and striking out two. As a starter, Scurry is 1-2 with a 2.53 ERA.

Chris Salamida (2-2) picked up the win with six shutout innings on six hits.

Game three of the four-game series is at 7p.m. on Monday, July 9, in Winnipeg. The game will be broadcast on Sioux Falls Sports Radio 1230-AM and www.kwsn.com.
