Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Visalia, CA - The Visalia Rawhide issued Rancho Cucamonga their first shutout of the year, as Visalia blanked the Quakes by a final of 6-0 on Friday night at Recreation Park.
For a second straight night, the Rancho offense struggled, putting up just four hits, one night after delivering one run on a season-worst two hits.
Quakes' starter Garrett Gould had one tough inning, as Visalia got him for three in the third. Tom Belza capped the inning with a two-out single to plate a pair, giving Visalia a 3-0 lead.
That was plenty for Rawhide starter Cody Wheeler, who allowed just two hits over six innings of shut-out baseball.
Visalia put it away in the sixth, getting to James Campbell for three more to make it 6-0.
Gould (2-3) absorbed the loss, allowing three runs on three hits, with five walks over five innings.
Darnell Sweeney had two of Rancho's four hits on the night.
The Quakes (28-33) are now seven games back with just nine to play in the first half, as they are a season-worst five games under the .500 mark. Rancho will look to end the two-game skid with Lindsey Caughel (1-3) on Saturday night, as he'll match up opposite Andrew Barbosa (3-3) of the Rawhide, with first pitch scheduled for 6:00pm.
After the conclusion of this seven-game road trip, the Quakes will return to LoanMart Field on Thursday, June 13th, taking on the Stockton Ports for a four-game series. Thursday night is another Thirsty Thursday, with $2 16-oz domestic beers and $2 24-oz Pepsi products. Game time is 7:05pm and tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you very soon at LoanMart Field. Go Quakes!
