Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

LAREDO, Texas -- Despite a clutch home run by Mike Provencher in the bottom of the ninth, the Saltdogs (24-40) fell to the Laredo Lemurs (30-33) 5-4 in 10 innings at Uni-Trade Stadium Wednesday night.

Provencher launched a two-out, two-run home to tie the game at 4-4 in the last of the ninth.

In the bottom of the 10th, Saltdogs shortstop Miguel Chacoa committed a two-base error over-running a ground ball that proved costly. Stephen Pearson hit an infield single with the bases loaded to give the Lemurs a 5-4 walk-off win.

Mike Benacka (1-2) pitched two innings of relief, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out five to pick up the win. Pete Parise (4-5) allowed an unearned run in 1 1/3 innings to suffer the loss.

Three of the five defeats for Lincoln on their Lone Star road trip were lost in walk-off fashion.

Jimmy Rohan finished 3-for-5 with two runs. Provencher went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer.

The Saltdogs are off Thursday and return home to Haymarket Park Friday night at 7:05 p.m. to open a three-game set with the Sioux City Explorers. Radio coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on KFOR 1240.
