Lemurs Win in Extra Innings

Laredo, TX - Stephen Pearson hit a 65 foot ground ball single to the pitcher that scores Anthony Scelfo from third base to push the Laredo Lemurs (30-33) to a 5-4, 10 inning win over the Lincoln Saltdogs (24-40) on Wednesday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.

With the Lemurs up 4-2 in ninth, Mike Benacka came out of the bullpen to close out the game. Mike would give up a base hit to Jimmy Rohan to start the inning, followed by two quick strikeouts, and a stolen base mixed in by Rohan to get to second base. With two outs Mike Provencher came to the plate and hit the ball over the left field wall to tie the game at four a piece.

The Lemurs would threaten to win the game in the bottom of the ninth but left Brian Peterson stranded at third after he picked up a leadoff double.

Javier Brito helped the Lemurs offense hitting a homerun in the first, he went two for four on the night. Palmer Karr Jr. hit his second homerun in as many nights helping the Lemurs grab two run in the sixth. Karr went one for three with two RBI.

Mike Benacka (1-2) picked up the win for the Lemurs as he went on to strikeout the side in the tenth. Benacka on the night pitched two innings, giving up two runs on two hits, while striking out five.

Pete Parise (4-5) took the loss, throwing one and a third, giving up a run, on two hits to the Lemurs.
