PrairieThunder Loses in Overtime

The Bloomington PrairieThunder squandered a 2-0 lead in the third period and lost 3-2 in overtime to the Quad City Mallards on Friday night in Moline, Illinois. With the loss, the PrairieThunder falls to fifth place in the CHL's Turner (Northern) Conference with a record of 26-16-4. The Mallards move into third place in the conference with a record of 28-21-1.

After a scoreless first period, Bloomington took their 2-0 lead in the second period on goals from Jason Dale (shorthanded and unassisted) and Ryan McLeod (on assists from Garrett Klotz and John Snowden). In the third period, Quad City would tie the game as Brandon Marino and Shane Lovdahl dented the twine behind PThunder goaltender Brad Phillips. And at the 3:10 mark of overtime, the Mallards Eric Giosa ripped the net for the game winner. Mallards goaltender Adam Russo got the win stopping 35 of 37 PrairieThunder shots while Brad Phillips took the overtime loss for Bloomington stopping 25 of 28 Quad City shots.

The PrairieThunder heads to Evansville, Indiana on Saturday night to face the Evansville IceMen. Game time is 7:35pm and the game can be heard on WEZC-FM (95.9) and WJBC.com. Fans are also invited to watch the game at BlueLine Nightclub, located at 602 N. Main Street in downtown Bloomington.
