Fort Wayne, IN. - The Komets doubled-up the visiting Dayton Gems Friday night in front of 7,981 at the Memorial Coliseum 6-3 for a winning start to a three-game weekend.

Neither team could find the net in the first period but the second stanza yielded six goals sending the Komets to the second intermission with a 4-2 lead. Tab Lardner scored unassisted at 4:01 with his 20th goal since joining Fort Wayne while killing a 5-on-3 Dayton power play to get the scoring started. Exactly one minute later Jonathan Ornelas knotted the game at one each with his team-leading sixth power play marker. The Komets rallied with two power play goals at 9:22 by Sean O'Connor and again at 16:49 by Mathieu Curadeau to take a 3-1 lead. Danny Lapointe found the twine at 17:55 before Dayton's Mike Vaskivuo scored with 46 seconds remaining in the middle frame to send the game into the second intermission with the Komets holding a 4-2 margin.

Ornelas opened the third period with his second goal of the game for Dayton 2:09 to pull within one at 4-3 but Fort Wayne's Lardner answered with his second tally of the night at 6:33 and Guy Dupuis launched his seventh goal of the season at 7:24 to complete the scoring and give the Komets their fifth straight win over Dayton 6-3.

Three Komets had three points each. Defenseman Frankie DeAngelis earned his fourth three-point game dishing three assists, Lardner also added an assist on Lapointe's game winning goal for his third three-point game with Fort Wayne. Dupuis also added two assists for his first three-point night of the season.

Nick Boucher earned his 14th win of the season for the Komets making 31 saves while Derek MacIntyre registered his fourth loss in his ninth Dayton appearance of the season stopping 24 of 30 shots.

The Komets improve to 22-20-5 for 49 points as Dayton fell to 23-20-4 for 50 points in the Turner Conference.
