
Power Tops Delmarva 7-5

(Charleston, WV, June 4, 2013): The West Virginia Power defeated the Delmarva Shorebirds 7-5 Tuesday night at Appalachian Power Park. Josh Bell hit a two-run home run to cap a four-run third inning for the Power, and added three more runs in the fourth.
Delmarva scored the first run of the game in the first inning off Power starter John Kuchno. Kuchno allowed a leadoff double to Lucas Herbst, who scored on a Tucker Nathans groundout.
In the third inning, Kawika Emsley-Pai and Ashley Ponce drew back-to-back walks. Both Emsley-Pai and Ponce scored on a fielder's choice by Junior Sosa, with Ponce scoring on a throwing error. Bell then hit his eighth home run this season to right, scoring Sosa.
In the fourth inning, West Virginia added three more runs to take a 7-1 lead. D.J. Crumlich scored on an RBI double by Raul Fortunato. Fortunato later scored on a Ponce groundout. Emsley-Pai scored his second run of the night on an RBI fielder's choice by Sosa.
The Shorebirds scored two runs in the eighth and added one in the ninth, and with the tying run at the plate, Jason Creasy picked up his fifth save of the season, striking out Nik Balog.
John Kuchno (3-3) earned the win by tossing five and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs. The right-hander struck out four batters and walked none. Matt Taylor (3-5) took the loss for the Shorebirds.
West Virginia and Delmarva will play game two of their three-game series Wednesday evening. Joely Rodriguez aims for his fifth win of the season against Juan Guzman of the Shorebirds. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 .
