
Rome Braves Send Three Representatives to SAL All-Star Game

Rome, GA - Eric Krupa, president of the South Atlantic League, has announced the rosters for the 54th Annual SAL All-Star Game, scheduled to be played on June 18, 2013, at FirstEnergy Park home of the Lakewood Blueclaws.
The Rome Braves have three representatives this season, pitcher Shae Simmons, infielder Levi Hyams, and outfielder Josh Elander. Simmons has been solid out of the bullpen (2.63 ERA) for the Braves in 2013 posting 15 saves to lead the South Atlantic League. Rome second baseman Levi Hyams is currently hitting .311 with 19 RBI and is among the team leaders offensively. Outfielder Josh Elander has enjoyed a stellar first half hitting .335 with nine home runs and 47 RBI to lead the team. In the South Atlantic League, Elander is among the leaders in RBI (2nd) , hits (tied for 3rd), doubles (3rd), extra base hits (tied for 1st), total bases (2nd), and slugging percentage (3rd).
Both the Northern and Southern division teams will be represented by 25 players, selected by the votes of the team's managers and coaching staffs, local media and front office executives. This will be the second time the South Atlantic League All-Star Game has been held Lakewood. In 2002, Ryan Howard and David Wright led a group of All-Stars that played in front of a league-record 8,571 fans at FirstEnergy Park.
