Legends Pitchers Named to All-Star Team

Lexington Legends pitchers Christian Binford and Alec Mills have been chosen to represent the Southern Division in the South Atlantic League All-Star game in Lakewood, New Jersey June 18.

Binford, 20, from Hagerstown, Maryland, has started 10 games for the Legends, and has a record of 4-2 with an earned run average of 2.67. In 57 and one-third innings pitched, he has struck out 57 batters and walked 13. Mills, 21, a native of Clarksville, Tennessee, made 15 relief appearances for the Legends before recently moving into the starting rotation. He has won one, lost two and saved six games with an ERA of 1.59. In his first start May 30 against Hagerstown, he allowed three hits and no runs in six innings. Mills has struck out 35 batters and walked eight in 34 innings pitched.

Both pitchers are right-handed.

"We're thrilled for Christian and Alec," said Legends General Manager Seth Poteat. "Our entire pitching staff has been fantastic this season, and we're so glad for Christian and Alec to represent us in the 2013 All-Star Game. It's quite an accomplishment, and we can't wait to watch them compete against the best the South Atlantic League has to offer."

The Legends' staff earned run average going into Monday's games is 2.98, best in the South Atlantic League.
