Toledo Walleye News Release
(Toledo, Ohio) Toledo Storm (15-11-1), who have struggled mightily this
season on the power play, netted three power play goals as they defeat the
Dayton Bombers (13-7-2) by a 4-2 final score in front of 4,579 at Toledo
Sports Arena on Friday night. The box score from tonight's game can be

The ECHL's second worst power play has been anything but as of late. The
Storm, who have only converted on 12 percent of their chances this year,
connected twice in the opening period. During a Storm 5-on-3 man-advantage,
Jeff Attard sent a wrist shot past Dayton goaltender Adam Berkhoel (L, 34
saves) to make it 1-0 Storm at the 11:09 mark. Just 6 minutes later, at
17:31, Attard connected on the power play again, notching his fifth goal of
the season to put the Red and White up a pair through one period of hockey.
The Storm have scored power play goals in 5 consecutive games. The shooting
gallery continued as well, with the Storm sending 14 shots on net in the
opening frame. After a full-fledged brawl midway thorough the second period, where 8
different players were given fighting majors, Toledo extended their lead.
At 13:19 of the middle frame, Gerry Burke found a loose puck in front of
Berkhoel's net and lifted it over his glove-hand to put the Storm up 3-0
through 40 minutes. Mike Walsh and Nick Parillo added assists on the third
Toledo power play goal of the game. With a 3-0 deficit heading into the third period, the Bombers responded
quickly with a power play goal, as Brent Walton lifted a bad angle shot past
Storm netminder Dominic Vicari (W, 33 saves). Paul Kelly then continued the
trend of power play goals, netting his 6th goal of the season at 5:48 of the
third, making it 3-2 Toledo. But after the pair of defensive hiccups, the
Storm regained composure as Ken Magowan added an empty net goal with just 11
second left, giving the Storm a 4-2 victory. The Storm will play the rest of the weekend away from Toledo Sports Arena,
beginning with another meeting with the Dayton Bombers at the E.J. Nutter
Center beginning at 7:05pm. Then, on Sunday, the Storm will take on the
Johnstown Chiefs at the Cambria County War Memorial with a 6:00 opening
face-off. The Storm will return to the home ice next Friday night when they
host the Trenton Titans at 7:35pm. Great tickets for the game are still
