Everblades' Kowalski Named Rbk Hockey Goalie Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Craig Kowalski of the Florida Everblades is the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Dec. 18-24.

Selected in the eighth round (235th overall) by Carolina in the 2000 National Hockey League Entry Draft and under NHL contract to the Hurricanes, the 25-year-old made 40 saves to record the team's first shutout of the season with a 4-0 win against South Carolina on Dec. 23.

Kowalski was just six saves off of his season high of 46, which he made on Nov. 11 against Columbia in a 3-1 win. The native of Clinton Township, Mich. played three seasons with Northern Michigan University before playing two seasons in the ECHL for Florida while also playing in the AHL for Lowell.

Since joining the ECHL Kowalski has lowered his goals-against average each season. This season, Kowalski is 10-5-0 with a goals-against average of 2.34 and a save percentage of .927 in 15 games for Florida.

Runners Up: Cedrick Desjardins, Cincinnati (2-0-0, 1.50 GAA, .952 save pct.) and Ryan MacDonald, Fresno (1-0-0, 1.00 GAA, .974 save pct.).

Also Nominated: Mike Brodeur (Augusta), Danny Taylor (Bakersfield), Davis Parley (South Carolina) and Rob McVicar (Utah).
