Salmon Kings arrange backline for Alaska game

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that Defenseman Ryan Jorde has been placed on waivers.

Jorde, 24, played 23 games with the Salmon Kings and recorded five assists and 34 penalty minutes.

In addition, the Salmon Kings activated Defenseman Phil Cole from the injured reserve list and welcome Defenseman Justin Spencer in his ECHL debut. Defenseman Gustav Engman has been added to the 3-day injured reserve, and Forward Warren McCutcheon shifted to the 7-day injured reserve.

Spencer, 25, was acquired yesterday by Victoria and is expected to be in the line up for tonight's game versus the Alaska Aces. The native of Tweed, ON played 28 games last season for the Hockey Club de Neuilly sur Marne (France, Div 1) and was credited with 22 points (9 goals, 22 assists).

Cole, 24, has played six games for the Salmon Kings and earned one assist and a +3 rating. Cole was called up to the Moose for a game on November 10, and returned to the Salmon Kings for games on November 11th and 12th. He was diagnosed with pneumonia and has not played since November 12th.

Victoria finishes 2006 with the three-game series versus the division-leading Alaska Aces tonight, tomorrow night, and on the first day of 2007. Join the players on the ice after the 1:05 p.m. game on Monday January 1st for another round of "Skate with the Salmon Kings". The skate session is by donation and proceeds benefit the Booster Club.
