Von Rosenberg: Making first start of 2012 season (5-9 in 2011 with a 5.73 ERA over 27 games)

POWER REPLAY: West Virginia snapped a four game losing streak with a 5-4 win on Monday night against Delmarva. The Shorebirds scored the game's first run in the third, but the Power answered with a three-spot in the home half of the inning. In the fourth, West Virginia added a pair and took a 5-1 lead. Delmarva cut the edge to one in the sixth before the Power bullpen shut down the 'Birds offense over the final three innings. Matt Benedict earned the win and Nathan Kilcrease garnered his first save in a Power jersey. Three players had multi-hits games and Willy Garcia drove in a pair in the victory.

THREE STARS HEADED TO ASG: The South Atlantic League announced the 2012 All-Star Game rosters earlier today, and three Power players were selected including two starters. Alen Hanson will start at second base despite the fact that he has not played there once this season, while Gregory Polanco was selected to start in right field. Like Hanson, Polanco has not played the position he is starting in at all this season. Matt Benedict was chosen as one of the 11 pitchers to represent the Northern Division team in the game to be played at Joseph P. Riley Jr. park in Charleston, SC, on July 19.

RETURN OF THE ZACK: The Pittsburgh Pirates promoted Zack Von Rosenberg to the active Power roster on Monday from State College. The right-hander spent the entire 2011 season on the Power roster, going 5-9 with a 5.73 ERA and led West Virginia with 114 strikeouts (3rd most in Power franchise history). Von Rosenberg was selected by Pittsburgh in the sixth round of the 2009 draft from Zachary High School in Louisiana.

THE BIRDS: Thanks to a season-ending five game sweep against Delmarva in 2011 and a win last night, West Virginia holds a 47-45 edge in the all-time series and have gone 30-22 at Appalachian Power Park in the series since 2005. The Power and Shorebirds will meet 13 times in the second half of the year.

ZVR VS. DEL: Zack Von Rosenberg marks his return to the roster tonight with a start against Delmarva. In his most recent official start, Von Rosenberg pitched six no-hit innings at Perdue Stadium on September, 2, 2011. The Power kept the no hitter going until there were two outs in the bottom of the ninth in was turned into a 6-2 victory. Brendan Webb and Parker Bridwell are the only Shorebirds on the current roster that played in that game. Von Rosenberg was 1-0 over three starts against Delmarva in 2012 with a 4.11 ERA.

PROMO UPDATE- JUNE 15: West Virginia will hold Pink Power Night on June 15 against the Hagerstown Suns. The team will don pink jerseys that will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting the Komen for the Cure Foundation.

POWER POINTS: Orlando Castro was transferred to the State College Spikes roster today. The southpaw entered 2012 with a career record of 11-0 and a 2.02 ERA, but has gone 2-6 with a 5.91 this season... Tony Sanchez was promoted to Indianapolis on Monday. Sanchez played in 41 games for the Power during the 2009 season... 2012 marks the fourth straight year as a Pirates affiliate that West Virginia has sent multiple players to the SAL All-Star Game... Kirk Singer has a nine game hitting streak on the line heading into his next game (.371 during the streak), while Gregory Polanco has hit safely in seven straight games (.444 during his streak).

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh was off on Monday and opens a three-game trip to Cincinnati this evening... Indianapolis held off Syracuse 4-3. Rudy Owens earned the win and is now 4-2 with a 2.35 ERA... Altoona did not play... Bradenton doubled up Brevard County 14-7. Alex Dickerson paced the offense with a pair of home runs and drove in six.
