Lexington Legends News Release

The Lakewood Blue Claws scored two runs without a hit in the first inning, added three more on four hits in the second, and then held on for a 5-4 win over the Lexington Legends Tuesday night in Lakewood.

The Blue Claws benefited from uncharacteristic wildness from Legends starter Luis Cruz, who walked five batters in the first inning. Cruz had walked only 13 in 63 and one-third innings before Tuesday night. Lakewood scored two runs in the first on four walks and a sacrifice fly.

The Legends got one run back in the second inning on a walk to Mike Kvasnicka and a double by Brandon Meredith.

The Blue Claws added three more runs in the second inning. Consecutive singles by Alejandro Villialobos, Aaron Altherr and Kelly Dugan loaded the bases. Harold Martinez singled to score two runs, and a wild pitch allowed a third run to score, giving Lakewood a 5-1 lead.

Drew Muren's solo homer in the top of the fourth cut the lead to 5-2, and the Legends scored twice in the seventh on singles by Kvasnicka, Meredith and Roberto Pena, and a sacrifice fly by Chan Jong Moon to leave the score at 5-4.
