Stockton Ports News Release

STOCKTON, Calif.- Stockton Ports outfielder James Harris has been named to the 2016 Mid-Season All-Star roster to represent the Ports and is scheduled to appear in the starting lineup of this year's game in Lake Elsinore.

The Bay Area native is currently ranked tenth in the California League batting average and second on the team with a .302 average, in addition to his 41 runs and 13 doubles on the year in his 57 games played.

Harris was picked up by the Athletics as a free agent in April of 2015 after initially being drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the first round of the 2011 First Year Player Draft. The Oakland Tech graduate ended the 2015 season with a .255 average and 28 RBI while in Single-A Beloit in his 302 at bats.

"Congratulations to James on his achievement of being named a California League All-Star," said Ports General Manager Bryan Meadows. "We wish him well on his time in Lake Elsinore and are proud to have him represent the Ports and City of Stockton at this year's game."

The 2016 California-Carolina League All-Star Game will be hosted this year by the Lake Elsinore Storm at The Diamond, which will be the second year in a row that the festivities are hosted by a California League team in honor of the league's 75th anniversary. Each of the ten teams in the California League will be represented for the 20th annual event versus the Carolina League. The California League looks to continue their hot streak for a third consecutive year after coming off of a 9-2 win in 2015.

The Ports will return to Banner Island Ballpark on Monday, June 13th in a three-game series hosting the visiting Modesto Nuts. Tickets are currently available at the Ports Box Office, by calling the front office at 209-644-1900, or at stocktonports.com.
