66ers' Arakawa Selected for California League All-Star Team

San Bernardino, CA - It was announced Wednesday by the California League that 66ers infielder Tim Arakawa was named to the 2016 California League All-Star Team, which will take on the Carolina League All-Stars in the league vs. league All-Star Game. The Honolulu, HI native currently leads the team in batting average (.286) and ranks in the top three on the team in stolen bases (6) and RBI's (21). The highlight offensively for Arakawa during the 2016 campaign was his league-high 21 game hit-streak that went from April 23rd to May 15th in which he batted .393. In addition to his work at the plate Arakawa has been a versatile defender for the club having already played second base, shortstop, and left field.

The All-Star Game will be played in Lake Elsinore on Tuesday, June 21st at 7:30pm. Additional All-Star festivities include the Home Run Derby on the USS Midway in San Diego on Monday, June 20th as well as the All-Star Fan Fest, which will feature autograph sessions from both the California and Carolina League All -Stars the next day. The Inland Empire 66ers are the California League Affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and play their home games at San Manuel Stadium.
