
Portland Falls to New Hampshire 5-3

Manchester, NH - New Hampshire catcher Ryan Hissey snapped a 3-3 tie, blasting a solo-homer on the first pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning, leading the Fisher Cats (33-18) to a 5-3 win over the Portland Sea Dogs (17-34) on Wednesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
New Hampshire hit two homers over three at-bats against Austin Maddox (L, 0-1), who was on a Major League Rehab Assignment. In the seventh inning with two outs, Connor Panas hit a 1-2 pitch over the right-field wall to the game at three. New Hampshire scored three runs (two earned) off Maddox in two innings of work.
Lefty Kirby Snead (2-1) tossed two scoreless innings to earn the win for New Hampshire.
Sea Dogs starter Mike Shawaryn was outstanding in his 10th start of the year. Shawaryn yielded a two-run homer in the first inning to Cavan Biggio but gave up just two hits the next five frames. Shawaryn hurled six innings on four hits, two runs, no walks and seven strikeouts.
New Hampshire starter Justin Dillon (ND) made his first start of the year and worked six innings on eight hits and two runs. Portland scored in back-to-back innings, receiving a sacrifice fly by Josh Ockimey in the third. In the fourth inning, Danny Mars tied the game with an RBI single.
Portland took the lead in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly by Chad De La Guerra (2-for-4).
De La Guerra, Austin Rei, and Jantzen Witte each had two hits for Portland.
The Portland Sea Dogs and New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays affiliate) wrap-up their three-game series with an 11:35 AM game on Thursday morning at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Lefty Dedgar Jimenez (1-3, 5.23) takes on Jon Harris (3-3, 5.94).
