Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Harrisburg Senators defeated the Hartford Yard Goats 6-3 in game two of their series. Brady Dragmire worked seven strong innings and the Senators hit three home runs en route to their fourth straight road series win
Osvaldo Abreu put the Senators in front in the second with a two-run home run to left, his fourth of the season, as the club took a 2-0 advantage.
Hartford answered in the bottom of the frame when Mylz Jones hit a solo home run to left.
Kelvin Gutierrez padded the Senators lead with a solo home run deep to left in the fourth, his third home run over his past five games.
The Senators remained in front 3-1 until Brendan Rodgers cut the lead to one with a home run in the sixth.
The Senators broke the game open with a three-run eighth. With two outs and nobody on, Stephen Perez singled to start the rally. The next batter, Drew Ward, doubled into the left field corner which scored Perez. Adam Brett Walker capped the rally by launching a two-run home run to left to give the Senators a 6-2 lead.
Hartford got one run back in the bottom of the frame on a run-scoring single by Brian Mundell.
That would be as close the Yard Goats would get as Roman Mendez pitched a perfect ninth inning to seal the 6-3 win and notch his second save.
Senators starter Brady Dragmire (5-2) earned the win after allowing just two runs on seven hits across seven innings with five strike outs and one walk. Yard Goats starter Jack Wynkoop (3-5) took the loss after surrendering three runs on five hits across five and two-thirds innings.
All three players rehabbing with the Senators appeared in the game. Brian Goodwin finished 0-3 with a walk, Daniel Murphy went 1-5 with a single and Matt Grace allowed one unearned run on a pair of hits in the eighth.
The win was the Senators ninth in their past 11 games, and their fourth straight road series win. The Senators at 25-25 are back to .500 for the first time since April 19.
The Senators and Yard Goats finish the series Thursday morning. First pitch is scheduled for 10:35 a.m. at Dunkin Donuts Park. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Harrisburg 96.5 & 95.3 FM and 1400 AM or at www.cbssportsharrisburg.com beginning at 10:20 p.m.
