Two home runs plagued an otherwise strong pitching effort for the Thunder, who saw a five-game winning streak end in a 3-1 loss to the Reading Fightin Phils on Wednesday night in front of a crowd of 5,641 at ARM & HAMMER Park.

Rehabbing Yankees right-hander Adam Warren started for the Thunder (32-20), striking out three and allowing just one hit, a double, over three scoreless innings.

Zack Zehner opened the scoring with a line-drive solo homer to left field off Reading (21-29) starter JoJo Romero in the bottom of the fourth inning. Romero, however, would not allow another run over his eight innings of work, striking out seven batters and scattering five hits.

Deivi Grullon tied the score for the Fightin Phils with an opposite-field solo home run to right field off Thunder righty Brian Keller in the fifth, and two innings later, Keller yielded a homer to Damek Tomscha, giving Reading a 2-1 lead. Tomscha added a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth for an insurance run, and Edgar Garcia pitched around a one-out walk in a scoreless ninth inning for the save.

Keller limited the Fightin Phils to three hits and struck out a season-high eight batters over his six innings of work, but took the loss for Trenton.

Your Thunder close their homestand on Thursday night at 7pm against the Fightin Phils. RHP Dillon Tate (3-2, 3.72) will start for the Thunder, and RHP Franklyn Kilome (1-2, 5.36) will go for Reading. The Thunder will wear special beach-themed jerseys, and the evening will feature a postgame Fireworks Spectacular, presented by PNC Bank. Tickets are available by phone at 609-394-3300 or online at TrentonThunder.com.
