Indianapolis Indians News Release
COLUMBUS, OHIO - Adam Plutko retired all 23 batters he faced, and the Columbus Clippers offense gave him all the run support he would need to defeat the Indianapolis Indians on Saturday night, 8-0.
Plutko (3-2) only had a pair of three-ball counts before he was lifted with two outs in the eighth inning. Plutko finished with five strikeouts and 95 pitches. Indianapolis (10-9) ended the perfect game bid immediately after Plutko was removed, as Jacob Stallings lined a double to left-center field.
Yu Chang gave the Clippers (9-11) its first lead of the series in the bottom of the second inning. Eric Haase led the frame off with an infield hit, and one batter later Chang hit a home run to left-center field.
A big fifth inning sealed the game offensively for Columbus. A total of six runs came across the plate, with three runs scoring on bases-loaded walks. The big hit of the frame was delivered by Gio Urshela, who drove home two runs with a single to left field.
Casey Sadler (0-2) was handed the loss after allowing five runs. Bo Schultz worked a routine inning out of the Indianapolis (10-9) bullpen, it was his first appearance in the regular season since the end of 2016, as he underwent Tommy John Surgery on March 29, 2017.
The Indians will go for the series win on Sunday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. against the Clippers, and they return home on Thursday.
