De Los Santos Starting Game 2 with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre
April 28, 2018 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders resume their three-game series tonight at 6:35 p.m. With a 6-1 win last night, the Pigs have taken back-to-back games against the RailRiders and have started 1-0 on this six-game, North Division homestand.
Enyel De Los Santos gets the ball tonight against Chance Adams. Tonight's starting pitching matchup is presented by Allentown Family Foot Care, which provides the latest in medical and surgical treatments of the entire foot and ankle. Learn more at affc.com.
De Los Santos made his Triple-A debut against the Railriders on April 10 and proved he was up to the challenge striking out seven in his debut. De Los Santos earned his first victory last time out against Durham and can match Zach Eflin for the team lead with a victory tonight. The 22-year-old ranks in the top 10 in the IL with 22 strikeouts in 13 2/3 innings.
Adams is one of the top pitching prospects in all of minor league baseball. The No. 74 overall prospect in MLB Pipeline's Top 100, Adams, has dominated in his short time in pro ball. Adams holds a career record of 31-8 with a 2.47 ERA since being drafted in 2015. The 23-year-old earned the win in Game 2 of last year's ILDS against the Pigs, going five innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out five.
LAST NIGHT: Roman Quinn's grand slam and Cole Irvin's six shutout innings propelled the IronPigs to a 6-1 victory on Friday night.
Quinn's home run was his first since last May. He extended his hitting streak to five games, going 2-for-4 with 4 RBI.
Making his second start against the RailRiders, Irvin limited the visitors to six hits, allowing multiple base runners in just one inning. Irvin struck out three and walked one. He worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the sixth to preserve a six-run lead as he exited the game.
