Charlotte Knights News Release

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - The Charlotte Knights fell to the Norfolk Tides by a score of 7-6 on Saturday night in game two of their three-game series at BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. For the second consecutive night, the ballpark welcomed a sell-out crowd. Saturday's total of 10,580 fans was its second highest of the season.

RHP Donny Roach (3-1, 3.30) took the mound for the Knights in his fifth start of the season. Roach, who was saddled with the loss, pitched six innings for the fifth-straight start while walking just one batter and striking out four. Charlotte's bullpen was once again solid pitching three strong innings while allowing just one run on one hit and striking out three batters.

Offensively, the Knights put together a late-game rally for the second-straight night scoring two runs in the seventh and three runs in the eighth to cut Norfolk's lead to 7-6. Second baseman Juan Perez crushed a two-run home run, his second of the season, in the 7th inning after third baseman Patrick Leonard singled to right field as part of his two-hit performance on the night. Shortstop José RondÃ"n also recorded two hits in four at-bats for the Knights.

Despite the late-inning heroics, the Knights fell just short in Saturday's comeback attempt.

The Knights will conclude their three-game series against the Tides on Sunday afternoon at BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. Pre-game radio coverage of Sunday's 2:05 p.m. finale will begin at 1:50 p.m. on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and CharlotteKnights.com. The game will also be broadcast on NBC Sports Chicago with Jeff McCarragher joining Swierad in the booth. Fans can also listen to the game in Spanish on 102.3 FM Latina with broadcasters Rafael Bastidas and Ernesto Hurtado.
